I am currently working as a design engineer for a civil engineering consulting firm, while studying to go back to school for my PhD. in Solid State Physics, and taking various classes to keep my mind active.
Throughout my college career I worked in teams to compete in Math Modeling Challenges and would like to continue solving applied mathematics based puzzles.
I am an Indian, a Bengali, living in Kolkata (formerly Calcutta). I took my graduation degree in commerce from Calcutta University. Nevertheless, soon after graduation, I realized that I liked scientific subjects more and switched over to these for my professional career.
Through the years 2005-2011 I have worked at providing academic assistance (scientific subjects: up to doctoral levels) to international students via companies in the US and UK but left off work at the beginning of 2011 to pay more attention to my mother’s increasing illness. My mother, at ~81 years, has recently died (24/03/2012) and I have since decided to chalk out a career that is slightly different. Nevertheless, my years as an academic assistant has produced some significant work in the fields of energy modeling, human impact on environmental, health related subjects including genetics. In all these, my forte is providing mathematical basis for conclusions via quantitative analyses.
Producing original mathematical models is not only a profession for me but also a pastime.
I'm a front-end engineer and designer at Zombal.
Born in Basel, Switzerland in 1987. Finished ‘Matura’ (High-School) in Switzerland. Move to Bremen, Germany where Plethodon did his B.Sc. in Biology at the University of Bremen. Plethodon is currently in a Master of Neuroscience program. He additionally works at a pediatric clinic as a technical supervisor of a sleep laboratory. Furthermore, he organized and conducted an anatomy of vertebrates practical course for university students.
I aim to offer theory-based solutions to problems and signposts to research on projects at every scale. Invites to make suggestions on simple or complex or difficult items are welcome.
I am an Undergraduate Mechanical Engineer from the University of Wollongong, Australia. I have extensive experience in CAD design and engineering drawings in a variety of CAD software over a number of years. I also have around 8 years of practical experience in manufacturing including cnc programming
I'm a native of Sydney, Australia. I completed by Bachelor of Advanced Science with majors in Mathematics and Physics at the University at Sydney. I also got my PhD in Photonics there. I then had my first postdoc at Tufts University, MA, working in Silk Photonics. I continue to work in Silk Photonics at the University of Sydney, School of Physics.
My hobbies are diverse, including computer hardware and software, electronics, hiking, and target shooting.
In college, I obtained a strong background in mathematics, computer science, and the physical sciences. On the side, I wrote a popular column for the school newspaper, answering students' questions about all aspects of science.
After obtaining a BS in Biological Sciences at Stanford and a PhD in Cell Biology at UCSF, I spent the next ten years living in the Bay Area and working as a research scientist. My primary project involved determining the mechanisms of aging in humans and mice. More recently, I relocated to Cambridge, MA.

I have just finished my PhD, in which I conducted a comparative study of the temporal and aspectual systems of English and Vietnamese and examined how the temporal and aspectual information is translated between the two languages. Earlier in my Masters thesis, I had examined the system of address and reference of Vietnamese in close comparison with that of English and looked at how much of the textual meaning is lost in the translation due to the high level of non-equivalence between the two languages. My research interests include sociolinguistics, pragmatics, semantics, applied linguistics
I hold undergraduate degree in Economics and graduate degree in Statistics. Currently I work part-time for a small startup in Silicon Valley.
